Lauryn Anderson-Mohr
RYT-500
Having taken part in the occasional yoga class as a young girl, the practice of yoga has always been a part of Lauryn’s path. However, it wasn't until her sophomore year of high school that yoga became an anchor in her life. As a gift, Lauryn’s dad purchased a family membership to Muskegon Yoga Center and she began regularly attending classes with her parents. The asana, meditation, and breathwork practices felt like coming home to something that had been lost and long forgotten.
In 2018, Lauryn began her first 200-hour teacher training under her mentor, Hilaire Lockwood, owner of Hilltop Yoga Chicago. That first teacher training planted a seed in Lauryn’s heart; at just 19 years old, the eight-limb system of yoga tended and nourished something much older and wiser within. After completing her 200-hour training in late 2018, she immediately began studying under Hiliaire for her RYT-500 in the spring of 2019, which she completed that same year.
In addition to her formal yoga training, Lauryn spent three years in Portland, Oregon attending the National University of Natural Medicine. She holds a bachelor’s in integrative health sciences and research (completed 2022), which she uses to study evidence-based models for modalities such as botanical medicine, holistic nutrition, exercise, and mind-body medicine. At present, Lauryn is in her second year of midwifery school at the National College of Midwifery, and is an active apprentice in her community. Her dream is to use the knowledge and skills she’s gained as a yoga teacher and student to serve west Michigan as a community-based midwife.
Lauryn’s teaching is rooted in tradition, and speaks to hamsa; a sanskrit word that describes the journey of the individual soul seeking the highest Self. Lauryn wants all of her students to know that no matter what path they may find themselves on, they are already whole by virtue of birth. Her classes seek to inspire others to see themselves how a great Mother might see them; utterly and completely loved in breath, body, mind, and soul.
In her spare time, Lauryn enjoys reading, writing, gardening, and spending time with her dear ones.
